Over 28% (20 million) of all children in the US under 18 will live with one parent
at some time in their lives. Statistics show that the chances of teen depression,
suicide, pregnancy,
crime, chemical dependency and behavioral problems all can rise as a result of the effects
of being in a single parent family home.
Started in 1998, Genesis Family has addressed common problems facing single parent families. In spite of the discouraging statistics, single parents can in fact offset the challenges that come from living in a single parent home. By providing support and training to single parents, connecting families with available resources and bringing awareness to our community, we can make a difference in helping parents while giving our children a greater chance of becoming successful, healthy adults.
